Privacy Policy

1. About Poster Net

Poster Net provides ready-made poster designs. You can add your own photograph, name and tagline, then download, save or share the finished poster.

Poster Net is not a social network. There is no public feed, and other users cannot see your profile, photographs or posters inside the app.

Poster Net is for users aged 18 and above, and is currently available on Android.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account information

  • Your mobile phone number
  • Your name
  • Your tagline, if you add one
  • Login and authentication records related to OTP sign-in

2.2 Photographs

You may add a profile photograph chosen from your device's gallery. It is stored with your account and used to personalize posters.

If you use Background Eraser, your photograph is sent to our server, where an automated (AI) tool removes the background. We store both your original photograph and the background-removed version, so you can switch between them.

2.3 Generated posters

When you create a personalized poster, we produce an image combining the poster design with your photograph, name and tagline. Generated posters are stored so you can access them again.

2.4 Saved posters

We store the list of posters you save (bookmark).

2.5 Feedback and support messages

If you send suggestions, feedback or support requests, we store your message together with your account information so we can reply.

2.6 Activity information

We record certain actions linked to your account:

  • Posters downloaded
  • Posters shared (we record that you opened the share option; we cannot see which app you chose or what you sent)
  • Posters saved and personalized
  • Searches in the app
  • Login activity

2.7 Device and technical information

  • Your device's notification token and platform (for example, Android)
  • IP address and request information received by our servers
  • Server logs and error records, which may include your account ID

3. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect your:

  • Precise location
  • Contacts
  • Call history
  • SMS messages, other than the OTP we send you
  • Messages in other apps
  • Banking passwords, UPI PIN or card details
  • Social media passwords
  • Biometric or health information

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Create, secure and manage your account
  • Verify your identity with your mobile number and OTP
  • Personalize posters with your photograph, name and tagline
  • Remove the background from your photograph when you ask
  • Store your profile, saved posters and generated posters
  • Let you download and share posters
  • Send notifications, if you allow them (Section 11)
  • Reply to your feedback and support requests
  • Understand which posters and features are used, and improve Poster Net
  • Keep Poster Net secure and prevent misuse, fraud and unauthorized access
  • Meet our legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for purposes unrelated to running and improving Poster Net.

5. Your Photographs

Your photograph is used only to personalize your posters and to show your profile picture in the app.

It is not shown to other Poster Net users and is not part of any public profile.

When you replace your photograph, the previous one and its background-removed version are deleted from active storage.

Background-removal previews you didn't save, and posters you generated, may remain in storage until your account is deleted.

6. Your Posters and Sharing

Other users cannot browse your posters through Poster Net. However, a poster you create contains your photograph, name and tagline, and anyone you share it with will see them.

When you share a poster through WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Telegram, X or another app, it is sent to that app, and that app's own privacy policy applies. We do not control what happens to a poster after you share it.

7. Device Permissions

Photos and media: to let you choose a photograph, and to save posters to your device. We only access the photographs you select.

Notifications: to send you notifications, if you allow them.

You can change these permissions at any time in your device settings. Some features may not work without them.

8. Where Your Information Is Stored

Your account information and app data are stored on servers run by us or our hosting provider, Railway.

Photographs, background-removed images and posters are stored with Cloudinary, an image storage service. Notifications are delivered through Expo and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. These providers may store or process data outside India, including in the United States.

Images are delivered through unlisted web links that are not shown to other users and are hard to guess. Anyone who obtains such a link could open the image, so please do not post or forward these links.

9. OTP and SMS

We send a one-time password (OTP) to your mobile number through our SMS provider, Fast2SMS, to verify your identity. Poster Net does not read your SMS messages.

10. Analytics

We keep our own internal records of how posters are used (downloads, shares, saves and personalizations), linked to your account. We use them to understand which posters and features are popular and to improve the app. We do not sell them.

When your account is deleted, these records are kept only in anonymised form, with your account details removed.

11. Notifications

If you allow notifications, we may send you notifications about new posters, festivals, offers and important service updates. To do this, we store a notification token for your device. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.

12. Who We Share Information With

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:

  • With service providers that help us run Poster Net: Cloudinary (image storage), Expo and Google Firebase (notifications), Fast2SMS (OTP/SMS), Railway (server hosting)
  • When required by law, such as a court order or a lawful request from a government authority
  • To protect safety and security, where necessary to prevent fraud, abuse or unauthorized access

We never share your personal information with other Poster Net users.

13. Security

We protect your information with:

  • Encrypted connections (HTTPS) between the app and our servers
  • Secure, token-based login
  • Access to systems and data limited to the people who run Poster Net

No online service is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information, we will inform you and the relevant authorities as required by law.

14. Data Retention and Account Deletion

We keep your information while your account is active.

You can delete your account at any time in the app: Settings > Account Management > Delete Account.

When you delete your account, we delete your:

  • Name, mobile number and tagline
  • Photographs and background-removed images
  • Generated and saved posters
  • Notification tokens
  • Other information linked to your account

We complete deletion within 30 days. Copies in backups are removed within 90 days. We may keep information where the law requires it or for security and fraud prevention. Anonymised usage records and feedback messages may be kept without your account details.

Posters you have already downloaded or shared remain wherever you saved or sent them.

15. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Know what personal data we hold and how we use it
  • Correct or update your information
  • Have your personal data deleted
  • Withdraw your consent, by deleting your account
  • Nominate a person to exercise these rights on your behalf in case of your death or incapacity
  • Have your complaints addressed by us

You can change your name, tagline and photograph yourself in the app. For any other request, email posternet.in@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity first. We will respond within one month.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

16. Children

Poster Net is only for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a person under 18 has an account, we will delete it. Parents or guardians can contact us at posternet.in@gmail.com.

17. Information About Other People

Only upload another person's photograph, or use their name, if you have their permission. If you believe your photograph or information is being used in Poster Net without your permission, contact our Grievance Officer (Section 19) and we will act on it.

18. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when Poster Net, our providers or the law change. If we make significant changes, we will notify you in the app and ask you to accept them. The latest version is always available in this screen.

19. Grievance Officer and Contact

If you have a question, request or complaint about your personal information, contact our Grievance Officer:

We will acknowledge your complaint within 48 hours and resolve it within one month.

20. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of India, including the Information Technology Act, 2000, the rules made under it, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
